One Minute with God: Breakspot

During the holidays I’ve always enjoyed pulling out the hammer or finding that double-edged nutcracker to smash through the hard shell of the walnut. Or, taking the time each day to crack open two large eggs and frying them “over-easy” to begin my early morning journey? Just like the egg, and the walnut sometimes we have to break through the hard shell of fear and shame to find the true ingredients of our worship.

Most of us, unfortunately, express our most sincere acts of adoration when we are most vulnerable. When it seems that the future looks dim, and it’s hard to find reasons to give thanks - is when our spiritual resilience wrestles to find that light of hope which we need to guide us through each day. The Bible speaks about a woman who learned to surrender to God in the midst of her struggles. A woman wrestling to erase her darkened past - concluded by breaking an expensive bottle of perfume and anointing the feet of Christ symbolizing the fragrance of her best act of worship.

If today, you find yourself struggling to find direction or hope don’t fight any longer. Just surrender to God, and allow for Him to take His rightful place as Lord of your life. Your total surrender may be the only act God is waiting for.

Breakspot!

Luke 7:37-38

37A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and poured perfume on them.
