There is so much to learn and enjoy about our country’s favorite pastimes. Whether it be the NBA, MLB, or the NFL there is something about watching sports that turns on our inner competitive juices. Especially when the score is close, and the underdog of the game takes on the great titan of their division.

As a young boy, I remember sitting down with my mom to watch the New York Yankees take on the Boston Redsox. We would never miss a game, and even though we watched from our living-room couch it felt as though we had front row seats right behind the batter's box. When the game was tight or the game seems to be in favor of our arched enemy we would turn our hats and begin to chant loudly; “it ain’t over until the fat ladies sings.”

Well, just like in sports, it ain’t over till it’s over. And, as long as there is breath in our lungs, and the sun rises to greet our waking eyes every morning - we can trust that God is cheering us on straight through to the finish line.

God is not done with us yet, He is clutch!

Romans 8:31-33

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.

Now more than ever before it is important to straddle your thoughts, and remain single-minded at whatever God has entrusted us to manage in this season. If you are a mom, be the best mom. If you are a dad, be the best dad. If you are a public servant, be the best at serving. If you are a teacher, keep studying.

Many things would desire to derail our attention and shake the very foundations of our resolve. Like a sysmec earthquake, it could seem that the very ground underneath our feet is involuntarily shaking. And, just like the many who have experienced these tremors, it could also seem as though the earth is lunging us, to hold unto anything that is anchored.

The inspiring Word of God has endured the test of time and has faced many storms of human history. It also continues to be a guiding light to those who seek its wisdom in the midst of trouble or triumph. It teaches us that when uncertainty has gripped our hearts, it would be beneficial to come to the throne-room of grace with a fixed mindset as we seek and pray for direction and wisdom. God may just singlehandedly pour you out a single blessing!

James 1:5-8

6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

Have you ever had someone in your life who you run to because they seem to have the ability to “add peace to your storm?” They are like a seasoned veteran who has been decorated with medals for the many storms of which he/she has had to navigate. Or perhaps they may not be so graced with glitter, but possess the honor of age with all of its gray, and timeless glory.

In the Bible, God Almighty is known as “The ancient of days”. He was in the beginning, and He shall also be there in our end. He is described as a comforting counselor, a teacher, a protector, and also a friend. We can always find refuge in His saving arms especially when the tides of life are causing us to drift further away into the moral abyss. He promises that in His power, and in His mercy - He is able to rescue us from any storm.

So, if you are indeed in need of a life raft or perhaps the help of a lifesaver today. God is there, He is willing, and He is able to save. Put your hope and trust in God and He will calm your storm.

Don’t start your week without Him!

Mark 4:37-40

37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat so that it was nearly swamped. 38Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

39He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
