  • One Minute with God: Setting Sail

There is nothing more exhilarating then setting your sail on the open waters of the horizon. When the forecast is clear and the birds are chirping, the wind is blowing, and the skies are blue - you can almost taste and smell the liberating power of the sea. She is vast, she is deep, and she is timing with life. When entering our floating vessel we trust that all its gadgets will help us navigate safely to our desired destination. And, when we are confident that all of the moving parts are functional we haul the anchor, and take sail into the un chartered waters beyond the waves. Just like the forefathers, and settlers of this great nation who over three hundred years ago voyaged in a journey of faith to find a land where justice would reign, and freedom would sing. We, like many of them, have taken our own sail, and have been confronted with insurmountable challenges that would test our resolve. Today, we have been caught in the middle of a whirlpool of uncertainty. A place where the unpredictable power of a pandemic has struck at the core of our freedoms. And, a time when the currents of racial tensions are literally foaming at it’s mouth. And, like many of our ancestors whose hopes were tarnished, and whose mental strength were challenged - we to have been entrusted with this time to prove our faithful and moral fortitude. Let us be encouraged to return and drink from the well of faith. An unlimited resource of strength that only God provides to calm our sail through the darken nights of our journey. Where the winds of change only work to help benefit the peaceful freedom of all. And, where the knowledge of His sovereignty is once again entrusted to a people who knows that only He can change the tempest, and send a steady breeze that would allow our nation to find the northern star on her moral compass again. For we wish you all a Happy Fourth, and smooth sailing. For we are One Nation, Under God, indivisible, with liberty, and Justice for all. Set sail! #oneminutewithgod#andyfernandez#iamministries

  • One Minute With God: Strength in Weakness

Have you ever had something poking at you that you wish would be removed? How about a rock in your shoe, or a thorn in your side, or even a nagging voice that continually reminds you of your imperfections? Well like many of us today, we are all wishing that somehow things can return to normal. That somehow the current situations occurring all around us is all part of a bad dream. We are praying, hoping, and even waiting for something to give - in order to see what the next step in this new normal will be. While I am hopeful that God will sustain us through every challenge, I have also learned that some things don’t always have to be perfectly modified in order for a personal change to occur. Acknowledging your weaknesses, and limitations reveal the beauty of humanity. For sometimes you don't always have to have the answers, and be strong.  For it is said, "for God's power is made perfect in your weakness."  So, in times like these learn to lean on God so he can sustain you in His strength.  You are not alone. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute With God: Don’t Believe

As a man of faith, it is extremely difficult to speak about a time in a person’s life when it is safe to “not believe” everything you hear. Deception is a very powerful tool which leaves the gullible extremely vulnerable, and the good-hearted pained in defeat. From navigating through any crisis or simply making decisions on who you will partner within life - or in business. You and I must understand that is is not a matter of becoming more cynical in our thinking. But, rather understand that humanity is made up of broken vessels who may be controlled by its own deceitful desires. In any crisis, it is increasingly important to discern correctly in order to make sound decisions that will guide you, and your extended family into safer waters. Trust in God! Jeremiah 17:7-10 7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. 8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” 9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? 10 “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve. #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute With God: Take A Stand

In moments like these when your soul has been continuously bombarded with uneasiness, and the enemy has desired to hand you “hell in a handbasket”. You and I may be legitimately aroused to take a stand and not a knee for what is morally correct. Sitting on the sidelines isn’t always the best posture you and I can take when a thief is attempting to ravish all you have left, destroy your family, and even at times jeopardize your own health. Sometimes the only wall between good or evil, morality or immorality, a criminal or a civilian is to be a Good Samaritan. Permitting yourself to entertain a casual spirit may bring you a sense of leisure, but at times may leave you left as a casualty. So let us practice what God teaches us in His Word; “submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the enemy, and he will flee from you.” Take a stand today, and be a wall of protection for you, your family, and your extended community. Take a Stand. Ephesians 6:13-15 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. #oneminutewithgod# andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Day by Day

Have you been keeping your calendar full? Tackling project after project, conference after conference, and problem after problem. Do you feel at times like you are anxiously racing to reach forward when what you were actually looking for is right next to you? Isn’t it frustrating- like chancing the wind? Well, each day brings about its own challenges. And, if you do not have the ability to possess tunnel vision you may just become tempted by your peripheral ambitions. Don’t be like the donkey who lunges forward to take a bite out of the “carrot on a stick”, and who never seems to reach it. It is time to put an end to those things which are robbing your attention, blocking your vision, and disturbing your peace. Take it day by day, step by step, little by little, and goal by goal. Each days has it’s own worries. Day by day. Matthew 6:33-34 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Blessed Hardship

Marathon runners are some of the most amazing athletes in the world. They are steady, poised, reluctant, and persevering. They know the mechanics of breathing, have trained under extreme weather, and have learned how to mentally sidetrack pain. Who likes training? And, who wakes up in the morning doing cartwheels because it’s time to take off the jammies, and run five miles. Well, there are individuals who are just wired that way, and they go to sleep restlessly waiting for the next moment to catch that next morning breeze. Discipline is never easy, and when it seems like life has brought on its high hurdles - it could be enticing to sprint the other way. Contrary to popular wimpiness, discipline may seem useless for some, and tedious for others. But, he or she who is trained by it will eventually reap a harvest of fruitful rewards. God trains us through hardships so you, and I can finish our race strong. Blessed Hardships! Hebrews 12:7-12 7Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Prisoner of Walls (POW)

Have you ever found yourself guilty of building walls around your relationships, or perhaps casting safety nets around your heart? When you have been around long enough, and your life has been battered with emotional pepper we quickly resolve to put out the fire and isolate ourselves in a barrage of protective walls. These naturally sparked defense mechanisms are a way that our soul reacts to unwanted strife and troubled relationships. Who wants to wake up every day, and confront someone who continually nags at your presence? Or, better yet, who knows how to seemly discourage your every progress. While coping with these difficult situations be careful that your protective walls do not become your spiritual prison. Be aware that isolation is a subtle way of sabotaging yourself into defeat. God desires that you learn how to walk in continual forgiveness so that in every circumstance you are felicitous! Don’t be a prisoner of walls (POW)! Matthew 18:21-22 21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Don’t Shrink Back

Ever started something, and never finished it? How about that college degree, that garage project, or perhaps that promise you made? There is certainly no lack of vision when it comes to starting something, but it truly takes character and resolve to see it come to its fruition. So many times we begin our day with some degree of what I would like to call - “reckless commitment.” We are determined, fed up, and made up. We promise our selves, and others that we will finally accomplish that which we have set out to do. And, if you are like many, those who know you best will roll their eyes and say “are you sure?” But, once a small pebble is thrown your way you are found stumbling over your own convictions. Well, we encourage you this week, do away with disappointment, refocus your energy, and trash anything that may hamper your commitment. When things get rough don’t curl up into the fetal position and make excuses. God is there in the beginning, and the end of all things, so ask him to strengthen your resolve. He did journey to the cross and said; “it is finished” Don’t shrink back now! Hebrews 10:35-39 35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.” 38 And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” 39 But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Hedge of Protection

If you love to garden and spend time in Home Depot you are probably like millions of Americans who are fixated with home improvements. Doesn’t it seem like there is never enough time or money to add an additional project to your already “botanical flavor”? For those of you who have a paid subscription to HGTV, there is a better version of “home & garden” found in the pages of scripture. For as you well know the whole story of humanity once began in a garden. And like the culprits who leaned over the edge, and ate the forbidden fruit. So we at times tamper or struggle with stepping out of the hedge of God’s protection. There are seasons in life when it may seem like we have crossed the point of no return. Times when it feels like God is the farthest person from us. The truth of the matter is - He has never left. God is still in the same place you left him, and he is still waiting for you to make a U-turn home. Get back under God’s Hedge of Protection, and return to Him today! Psalms 18:2-3 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Dirt Matters

As a minister of the Gospel, I’ve had my share of grief when losing a loved one. Witnessing the departing of a family member, preforming a eulogy, or perhaps assisting with funeral arrangements is one of the most difficult tasks anyone can be challenged with. In moments like these, it never fails to remind us how fragile we are. How like a gust of wind - we are but one breath away from our eternal travels. The Bible teaches us that from “dust we came, and dust we shall return.” And, since dust is so important in housing the human spirit it would seem important to consider that dirt does really matter. Your body is like soil to a garden, and God’s Word is like a seed to a gardener. Whenever God’s Word is planted in your heart it will produce good fruit. But, when the worries of life choke that Word it becomes unfruitful. Don’t allow for the circumstances of this lifetime to produce thorns and thistles in your spiritual journey. Be fertile, be fruitful because Dirt really does matter! Matthew 13:20-23 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute With God: What Side Are You On?

Brothers and sisters as we remain sympathetic towards each other, and grieve over all the injustices plaguing every corner of our communities I encourage you to remain in God’s love. For we know that this is not a war against flesh and blood, but against wickedness reaching the highest, and lowest of places. There is an invisible enemy of every human soul who is laughing at our own destruction, and demise as he is ravaging our families, and our communities. He has manipulated many through deception, blame, and shame. For we have all been created in the image, and likeness of our creator. So, let your light shine and let the Gospel truth, and love defines who we are. It is not on what side you and I are on - that begs the question. It is who is on God’s side? Joshua 5:13-14 13Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” 14“Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries
