There is a danger deceivingly brewing in the air where music has become the center of our worship and not God. Are we being inspired by the emotions produced by music or by the tangible presence of God in our midst? Worship leaders have a God-fearing responsibility to invoke the presence of God and help people draw near to His presence in awesome reverence and submission through worship. The "gift of discernment" should not be interpreted as the "gift of prophecy". The gift of discernment helps a believer weigh in on those things hidden from the natural eyes. It is provided to guide, protect, instruct, and correct in the ways of Christ. Discernment speaks of the current condition, not the final condition, of those we serve. You can be a sinner today, and a saint tomorrow. Prophecy "taps" into the sovereignty, vision, and plan of God. It is not influenced by the emotions and will of men. It will divinely speak, reveal, and proclaim things to come according to the order and plan of God! Revelation 19:10 At this, I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Don't do that! Do not Fall into the "Jonah Trap". Some of the greatest prophets like "Jonah", struggled with one important part of God's sovereignty. His sovereign right to choose who he will show mercy and compassion to. Sometimes as leaders we will fall into the "Jonah Trap", believing that only the strongest, holiest, righteous, and most religious will be shown mercy and given favor. Let us not judge who God reveals his mercy too. We were and are also sinners saved by his unending mercy and grace. Remember where you were when he revealed himself to you! There is a relative connection to God's love when we conduct ourselves well, obey his commands, and work with excellence. But, what happens when you stumble, when you had a bad day, or when you have considered cursing God and yourself for the life you have. Can you still believe and know that there is no change with God's love? It is entirely unconditional, we just have to believe it, and remember there is no changing with God's nature and character. Unbelief has the power to isolate you, paralyze you, disqualify you even in light of your purpose, and God's promises. The main reason the people of Israel did not enter the promised land and God's rest was because of their struggles with unbelief. Unbelief or disbelief can be found in the heart of every believer at times. They arise for multiples reasons, but whatever the reason(s) they produce the same results.
