  • One Minute with God: Guard Down

Whether your life is quiet, and you are enjoying the sounds of the birds chirping or you are in the middle of a heated battle for your livelihood - don’t ever underestimate the element of surprise. There is an enemy who will never stop seeking to demoralize your efforts, or who will refrain from sieging your God-given purpose. If he can not defeat you being your enemy, he will attempt to deceive you by becoming your friend. In a world where everything is changing, where trust is at its lowest, and where we are being bombarded with news from around the world - we can not become naive to the fact that there are forces designed to oppose your every progress. I know many of you may be tired, others restless, and yet others flourishing in your years of retirement. But, I encourage you to never let your guard down. Your spiritual fortitude must be guarded in every season of your life. It only takes a small breach in your spiritual wall for the enemy to swirl his way in. So be careful, be vigilant, and know that God is always present help in times of trouble. Don’t let your guard down! Proverbs 4:23-27 23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. 24 Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. 27 Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. #oneminutewithgod #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Cornerstone

When you sit with an architect to plan for that new addition to your home you will find that there are several important structures that hold together the integrity of the building. For example; if you were to remove a pillar or a barring wall from its place you will immediately learn that you have just inherited a cost-free “man cave.” Without realizing it, our lives can be an endless construction site where we are continually adding to our “field of dreams”. We work, we save, we sweat, and we tear up when everything comes together as planned. The one deciding factor of whether our personal paradise sustains the test of time or not; is whether we built our hopes on the fragile parcel of human ideologies or on the bedrock of God’s eternal promises. The Bible teaches us that Christ is the cornerstone and the one who holds everything together. If you apply His instructions and build according to His plans your investment will never return to you void. Build today on the solid rock of faith in God’s Word. Matthew 7:24-25 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. #oneminutewithgod #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Living Stones

Impenetrable, dense, and sturdy are the characteristics of stones found in the cliffs of every mountain or in the crevice of every valley. There are special moments when you and I may even have the privilege of finding that within these stones are housed precious jewels that are deemed priceless because of the process they have endured. The earth is filled with all of these precious stones, and if you just look close enough - you may very well find a “diamond in the rough”. Have you ever looked at the mirror and considered yourself a precious stone? When taking note of all the wonders of creation, and considering all of its beauty you will find that there is nothing more precious in the sight of God than the human soul. God has considered you the most valuable of His handiwork that He would form you in His own image and likeness, and call you His child. For take note that you are the temple of the living God, and there is no need to waste your time building cathedrals, buildings, or any other edifice for that matter. He already desires to abide in you and work wonders through you. You are a Living Stone! 1 Peter 2:4-6 4As you come to him, the living Stone rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him 5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6For in Scripture it says: “ See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” #oneminutewithgod #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: For God, and Country

What a great nation we have been so privileged to inherit. The place where dreams become realities, and by hard work and toil the soil beneath our feet produce. The place where people would escape their needs, and risk it all to start anew. A place where freedom reigned, and where “God and Country” was a patriotic anthem. America means the New World. A geographical place where you and I would venture to faithfully search, and set our eyes upon. A place where the unity of peoples and states formed our common bond and our shared possibilities were our responsibilities. A place where faith and determination was our driving force, and a “model of heaven” for the whole world to see. Fellow Americans God has always had a plan for you, so don’t remove Him from your foundations. He is the one who refreshes your land with rain and causes your labor to flourish. He is the fire in your flaming torch and the light beneath your very feet. Return to God. For God, and Country! Jeremiah 29:5-7 5“Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. 7Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” #oneminutewithgod #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Anointed Victim

Have you ever felt the need to visit a professional massage parlor or visit a full-scale spa where you receive the full treatment of relaxation, therapy, and pampering to give your body rest? Don’t you leave that place feeling weightlessly renewed? And so, it is when you have experienced God’s presence, and have become a victim to His anointing. The word “anointing” in Hebrew literally means “to rub”. So, whenever an individual draws closer to God, and God draws closer to that individual it is impossible for that interaction to take place without having evidence of smearing or rubbing of God’s hand. Like every investigated scene if both the victim and/or suspect of an incident were present there needs to be some forensic evidence that an encounter has taken place confirming their proximities. So the next time you are in need of a priceless therapy invite God to the scene. He will surely leave behind evidence of His handiwork on the doorpost of your heart. He will anoint you with hope, and leave you with a renewed measure of faith that will enable you to supernaturally perform your God-given purpose even against all odds. Receive your rub today. Anointed Victim! Ezekiel 36:25-28 25I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. 28Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God. #oneminutewithgod #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute With God: Don’t grow Idle

Have you ever got up Monday, and wished it was Friday? How about wrestling to drag your legs out of bed, and violently scrubbing off whatever “gorilla glue” is left on your eyelids? It can easily become very enticing to begin our workweek laying between the sheets and drifting away into the realm of laziness. But, since we have been crowned with influence we must continue to occupy whatever position God has commissioned us during this season. Many are waiting at home for answers while others are anticipating what can become of the upcoming elections. Either way, you and I must understand that waiting may be a sound virtue of the wise, but it can also become the excuse of the idle. The Bible is clear in teaching us - to be careful of not folding our arms in slumber nor crossing our hands in the things of God so that poverty may not overtake us. Cast all your cares in the Lord this week, and oust out of your presence whatever is making you lethargic. Remove any of your hidden fears that may paralyze or sabotage your hope. And, with new fervency make progress at every opportunity that the Lord provides. There is still work to do. Don’t grow idle! 2 Thessalonians 3:11-15 11We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12Such people, we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 13And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. 14Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. 15Yet do not regard them as an enemy but warn them as you would a fellow believer. #oneminutewithgod #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: It’s Not Over

There is so much to learn and enjoy about our country’s favorite pastimes. Whether it be the NBA, MLB, or the NFL there is something about watching sports that turns on our inner competitive juices. Especially when the score is close, and the underdog of the game takes on the great titan of their division. As a young boy, I remember sitting down with my mom to watch the New York Yankees take on the Boston Redsox. We would never miss a game, and even though we watched from our living-room couch it felt as though we had front row seats right behind the batter's box. When the game was tight or the game seems to be in favor of our arched enemy we would turn our hats and begin to chant loudly; “it ain’t over until the fat ladies sings.” Well, just like in sports, it ain’t over till it’s over. And, as long as there is breath in our lungs, and the sun rises to greet our waking eyes every morning - we can trust that God is cheering us on straight through to the finish line. God is not done with us yet, He is clutch! Romans 8:31-33 31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. #oneminutewithgod #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Single-minded

Now more than ever before it is important to straddle your thoughts, and remain single-minded at whatever God has entrusted us to manage in this season. If you are a mom, be the best mom. If you are a dad, be the best dad. If you are a public servant, be the best at serving. If you are a teacher, keep studying. Many things would desire to derail our attention and shake the very foundations of our resolve. Like a sysmec earthquake, it could seem that the very ground underneath our feet is involuntarily shaking. And, just like the many who have experienced these tremors, it could also seem as though the earth is lunging us, to hold unto anything that is anchored. The inspiring Word of God has endured the test of time and has faced many storms of human history. It also continues to be a guiding light to those who seek its wisdom in the midst of trouble or triumph. It teaches us that when uncertainty has gripped our hearts, it would be beneficial to come to the throne-room of grace with a fixed mindset as we seek and pray for direction and wisdom. God may just singlehandedly pour you out a single blessing! James 1:5-8 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • One Minute with God: Peace to Your Storm

Have you ever had someone in your life who you run to because they seem to have the ability to “add peace to your storm?” They are like a seasoned veteran who has been decorated with medals for the many storms of which he/she has had to navigate. Or perhaps they may not be so graced with glitter, but possess the honor of age with all of its gray, and timeless glory. In the Bible, God Almighty is known as “The ancient of days”. He was in the beginning, and He shall also be there in our end. He is described as a comforting counselor, a teacher, a protector, and also a friend. We can always find refuge in His saving arms especially when the tides of life are causing us to drift further away into the moral abyss. He promises that in His power, and in His mercy - He is able to rescue us from any storm. So, if you are indeed in need of a life raft or perhaps the help of a lifesaver today. God is there, He is willing, and He is able to save. Put your hope and trust in God and He will calm your storm. Don’t start your week without Him! Mark 4:37-40 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat so that it was nearly swamped. 38Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” #oneminutewithgod #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • Reflections: Don't Miss It

Do you still enjoy the smell of roses, or delight at the sun’s rays in the dawn, or how about the old hymnals that got you through your worst times when you worshipped God with the saints? When you have been seasoned by the trials of life, and have journeyed long roads, you and I can easily become emotionally callused. Some of us have been tsunami’d by adversity, and others have gradually been morphed by the continual drops of unappreciated relationships. However, you must be intentional in not allowing these scabs to prolong your progress. Continue to love, and do good to all. For love is more powerful than hate. Feel again, love again, and don’t miss it! #andyfernandez #iamministries

  • Quote by Pastor Andy Fernandez

"The full Gospel message of Jesus Christ was never divinely provided to defend cultures, but rather to save souls. It would seem like the common thread holding our churches together in the year 2020 is no longer grace, but race." #andyfernandez #iamministries
